About Me

A Solid Educational Background

In 2009, I graduated with honors from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in English. In May 2013, I earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Writing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where I completed the program with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

A Wealth of Writing Experience

I am a writer with experience in both traditional and new media, having written everything from research reports to press releases to blogs to user guides, as well as creating InDesign layouts and Flash animations. I also have experience conducting usability studies and writing grant proposals. I am proficient with Microsoft Office and much of the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator and Flash Professional). At UMass Dartmouth, I completed graduate-level coursework (which included building a functioning website) in using the Drupal Content Management System, and I have also created websites using WordPress. I learn new concepts and technology quickly, and am always looking to expand my skillset.

Some of my writing accomplishments include publishing a feature article in The New Bedford Standard-Times in 2012, winning a number of writing awards, and earning a full scholarship to the Ocean State Summer Writing Conference, among others. In addition, my undergraduate thesis paper, “Secret Identities: Graphic Literature and the Jewish-American Experience,” has been downloaded nearly 1,000 times from academic institutions across the country.

A Core Philosophy

I believe that sometimes the importance of quality writing in a business setting can be overlooked, but effective communication is crucial to any organization, large or small. Whether it be informing the public of a new scientific breakthrough or explaining to users how to operate a product, the written word is the medium through which ideas are spread. As a writer, I ensure that such information is conveyed effectively and efficiently.
